The walk up Kilimanjaro was absolutely amazing – a real personal challenge. I was fortunate enough to make it to the top and I have to say, the view from the top has to be the best view I have ever experienced. From Kili the safari was really stunning...Everyone on the trip had a simply sensational time and it is a real credit to World Expeditions for the organisation.

Since 1975 World Expeditions has worked with many recognised experts, elite adventurers and mountaineers. All of our leaders have made a significant contribution to our development while their expertise and enthusiasm have ensured we maintain the 'leading edge' in adventure travel.
As a general principle we use expert local leaders for the majority of our adventures and they are pivotal to the success of each adventure. However, we also have an amazing line up of extraordinary western guides who define our leading edge in adventure travel. Over the years our local and western guides have collectively made significant contributions to our ongoing development and their expertise and enthusiasm is reflected in the exciting itineraries and quality of leadership.
Many of our guides are available to lead private trips for your group, your family, your colleagues or your business. While careful planning & scheduling is necessary, these specially guided itineraries become one-of-a-kind original experiences lead by an exceptional guide. Mark Bennic
Mark manages the operations of our Australian treks and adventures, moving with the seasons. In the winter months he is based in the Northern Territory and keeps our Larapinta and Top Ends tours running smoothly. Over the summer Tasmania and Launceston are home base while he coordinates the busy team for Tasmanian Expeditions.
Meraj Din
'Mr Din' has been the driving force behind the operation and management of our Nepal trekking program for the past fifteen years. His tireless commitment to trip quality and focus on responsible tourism practices has ensured that World Expeditions remains at the forefront of the Himalayan trekking scene.
Peter Hillary
Peter's long association with the Himalaya needs little introduction. His numerous mountaineering exploits include a successful ascent of Everest in May 1990 - 37 years after his father and then again in 2003. He is also an experienced Antarctic expert with a crossing to the South Pole, an expedition on Mt Vinson and a dozen trips to the Antarctic regions. Peter follows firmly in his late father’s footsteps with his charitable work for people in the Himalaya, working as a director with the Australian Himalaya Foundation.
Pierre Schmid
Pierre is a high altitude mountain guide and co-founder of our partner company in Chamonix. An accomplished alpinist in his own right, Pierre regularly ventures into the Himalayas and Alaska, and has summitted Cho Oyu (8201m) in Tibet. Whilst at home in Chamonix, Pierre, co-ordinates and guides many of our Mont Blanc ascents.
Pip Macartney-Snape
Pip’s adventurous spirit is reflected in her great passion for the outdoors. She has guided in the European Alps and is an established World Expeditions leader on our climbing and trekking trips in Patagonia, Pakistan and Nepal. She has also climbed and explored extensively in the mountains of Chile and Argentina.
Richard I'Anson
There are few corners of the world where Richard has not photographed. Indeed his work features in over 150 Lonely Planet guidebooks as well as their best selling guide on 'Travel photography'. Over the last decade Richard has made a significant contribution to our brochures and has guided a number of our specialist photography trips and in 2012 will lead an exciting photographic adventure to Zanskar and Ladakh.
Robin Boustead
Robin is the architect of the Great Himalaya Trail (GHT). Over 7 years he has tirelessly documented every major trail in Nepal and new link sections that join each trekking region and this is the basis for the development of one continuous trail that makes up the GHT. The vision is to drive tourism to the remotest communities in Nepal to help break the poverty cycle where little to no tourism dollars currently flow. Robin’s extensive knowledge of Nepal makes him the obvious choice to escort the first leg of our inaugural GHT treks in 2011.
Simon Yates
Simon has been at the forefront of mountaineering for almost 2 decades with pioneering first ascents in the Andes, Himalaya and Karakorum. Best known as the climbing partner to Joe Simpson in ‘Touching the Void’, Simon has developed a strong reputation as an engaging expedition leader and his great passion for the mountains of Central Asia means he is ideally placed to lead our Korjenevskaya Expedition in 2011. In 2012 Simon heads up our Aconcagua Expedition, our Damodar Saribung Traverse also our Summits of Bolivia Expedition.
Soren Kruse Ledet
Soren recently returned from Mt Everest and is one of our most experienced mountaineering guides. Soren was a member of the 1995 and 2003 Annapurna 4 Expedition and also accompanied Gary Hayes on a six month traverse of Nepal. He has led many climbs and treks in Nepal, Tibet, China and Bhutan, including Cho Oyu, and is a popular guide for his professional yet easy going nature. Soren shall be leading our Khan Tengri Expedition in Central Asia and our Baruntse Expedition in 2012.
Sorrel Wilby
Sorrel made history in 1991 when she undertook a 6500km traverse of the Himalaya with her husband Chris being the first people to do so. The Buddhist area of Dolpo in Nepal was closed to foreigners at the time forcing the pair to skirt the southern fringes to continue their journey. Sorrel will lead the 2011 Upper Dolpo Traverse section of the Great Himalaya Trail sharing her knowledge and love of Nepal and its people and realizing her dream of completing the missing piece of her earlier traverse.
