WWF Escape to the Andes

We visited the Andean school which was built by World Expeditions and presented the children with books, pens, pencils etc which some of us had brought from Australia. The extra weight was worthwhile when we saw the expressions on the children’s faces. I could never imagine children in Australia smiling so broadly at being given an exercise book and pen!

Open Challenges

Cycling VietnamOur Open Challenge programme is the perfect solution for those of you who prefer not to commit to an exclusive charity challenge, which are usually designed for a minimum of 10 people. If you are wanting to travel solo, with a small group of friends, or are an events organiser for a charity that does not want to commit to organising an exclusive departure then talk to our experienced team about how you could join one of our regular departures and raise monies for your chosen charity at the same time.

Open Charity Challenges are perfect for:

  • Individuals
  • A group of friends, families or work colleagues of less than 10 people
  • Charities who do not wish to commit to marketing an exclusive challenge

On a World Expeditions Open Challenge you can raise monies for the charity of your choice. You will be joining travellers from around the world (we have offices in Australia, New Zealand and Canada) who are not necessarily raising monies for a charity but are still committed to the challenge ahead of them.

A World Expeditions Open Challenge offers flexibility, by allowing you to select from a wider range of trips, and more frequent departure dates, to ensure that your challenge is just right for you.

We will provide a 10% discount on many of the iconic trips - such as Everest Base Camp, the Inca Trail, Great Wall Trek, Kilimanjaro - for those who are genuinely raising money for a charity. The more travellers we have on your chosen departure the more we can possibly reduce the cost allowing you to raise even more funds for your chosen charity.

If you wish to avoid trekking or travelling with larger volumes of people then our Open Challenges are for you. Our Open Challenges are limited to a maximum of 16 travellers to ensure we minimise the impact on the regions we travel through. Responsible travel has come naturally to us since our inception in 1975. We perhaps don’t boast about our Responsible Travel policies as much as others might because we believe it should be a standard operational practice, not a unique selling point. If you wish you can read more on our award-winning sustainable travel practices.

  4. Download and complete an Open Challenge booking form and submit to us with a non-refundable £250pp deposit.

Once your place is confirmed with both the charity and us you can begin your fundraising!

FUNDRAISING MODEL

There are two choices but which one you choose may largely depend on your nominated charities preference. This should be confirmed before signing up for an Open Challenge.

Option A: The charity sets your minimum fundraising target and you pay all monies raised directly to them.
Option B: You can self-fund your trip cost and then donate 100% of your fundraised monies, whatever you raise, to the charity.

All monies will need to be paid 60 days prior to departing for your challenge on both options.

We have some fundraising ideas on our site to help get you inspired, however you will find that the charity you choose to work with will have a plenthora of innovative fundraising concepts and advice to help you achieve your goals. You're never alone, we're always here to help.

Go on - start fundraising today! Contact our team to learn more via email or call us on 0800 0744 135.
