Sinai Trek

King’s Bruton has enjoyed an excellent partnership with World Expeditions for many years. As part of our popular Gap Year Programme we rely exclusively on WE for the management of our fund raising expeditions each year. We have experienced nothing but professionalism, dependability and commitment to our ethos. At the locations of our expeditions we have found the local ground agents to be highly reliable and well respected in their communities. World Expeditions have delivered first rate experiences for our teams in North Africa and in the Sinai Peninsula and we look forward to many more years of effective partnership.

Egypt

Take an adventure holiday in EGYPT with World Expeditions, one of the world’s leading travel companies.

About Egypt

Africa’s most populous country, Egypt, is found in the north of the African continent, bordered by Sudan to the south, Libya to the west, by the Mediterranean Sea to the north to the Red Sea to the east. The Nile River stretches 40,000km2 across the country supporting the majority of Egypt’s 78 million people, where the land is fertile. This is in stark contrast to the arid Sahara Desert which occupies much of the country.

Egypt is famous for its ancient civilization and some of the world's most famous monuments, including the Ancient Pyramids, the Great Sphinx, the Valley of the Kings, Abu Simbel as well as the many riches housed in the Cairo Museum.

Adventure Holidays in Egypt

World Expeditions Egypt adventures and journeys aim to capture the rich historical legacy of Egypt, from the Pharaonic sites of the Nile Valley to the biblical wilderness of the Sinai Desert. We trek through the Sinai Desert with the Bedouin people and on the last day of the trek reach the summit of Mount Sinai, climbing the 750 steps to where the Ten Commandments were delivered to Moses.. The Red Sea offers a coastal break before the wonders of Luxor and the Temples of Karnak. From the comfort of our cruise boat we are given a great insight into Luxor and we explore the tombs of the Pharaohs in the Valley of the Kings. In Cairo we visit the pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, where our qualified Egyptologist guide brings these icons to life.

The Weather in Egypt

With the exception of the winter months, Egypt is mostly hot and dry with temperatures rising to as high as 41 degrees Celsius on average in June. Our departures occur in February, March, October and November when the temperature is best for the types of activities we will be undertaking including trekking in the Sinai and cruising on the Nile.  Even in February, it has been known to snow in the mountains of the Sinai where we will be trekking. Therefore a good quality sleeping bag is important together with light thermals, and a warm outer layer for evenings when temperatures can fall below freezing. Aswan is quite hot during the day even in the middle of winter, and a hat and sunscreen is essential for all departures. From November to February the temperature ranges from 8 to 27 degrees Celsius on average, whilst rainfall is practically unheard of at this time. Cairo will be slightly cooler.
