Larapinta Trek

We had a wonderful time on our recent 8 day Larapinta Trek. The trip was made all the more enjoyable by the assistance of our guides Adrian and Craig. Their flexibility, steady temperaments, knowledge, friendship, experience, sense of humor and ability in the kitchen took all the difficulties out of our experience. Nothing was too much trouble, and everything that should have happened happened, and happened when it should have. They made the whole experience for us a simple walk in the bush. We could not reccommend them more highly.

Frenchman's Cap Trek

The spectacular Frenchman's Cap rises 1443 metres out of the Gordon-Franklin Wild Rivers National Park. The eastern side of the peak is home to Tasmania's oldest rock, an impressive 300m overhanging rock wall face of Precambrian quartzite. This superb trek to Frenchman's Cap is a 46km return journey over varying terrain including open button grass plains and dense rainforests with steep ascents. Amidst this truly wild area you will discover an abundance of wildlife including many endemic bird species. By allowing five days of walking and camping under the summit, the carefully thought out itinerary allows a greater chance of visiting the peak in fine weather. From the summit you will be rewarded with spectacular views throughout the Tasmanian wilderness including Mt. Ossa, the Arthur Range and Macquarie Harbour.

traveller reviews

My friend Peter and i recently completed your Frenchman's Cap Trek in the Franklin/Gordon wild rivers national park. It was a challenging but amazing experience getting to see first hand the many and varied aspects of the Tasmanian bush. We made the summit on a very clear day and was able to take in the wonderful views of the surrounding lakes and peaks for miles around. Our trip was topped off on the last night by Scott providing us with a bbq and cold beer (best ever).

But you know all of that.......my reason for the email is to say a big thank you to our three guides.
The support we received from Will, Brenton and Ash was exceptional. They were respectful of our ages, pleasant, encouraging and professional at all times. Nothing was too much trouble, whether it be helping us with our tents, notifying us when a cuppa was on, cooking our meals, ensuring our safety, giving advice, or simply having a chat. I was incredibly impressed with these young guys who displayed a maturity beyond their years.

Thank you Tasmanian Expeditions.
