Everest High Passes

...we shouldn't finish without mentioning admiration for the endlessly busy Mr Lama. He like all World Expeditions staff we met, was very charming and knowledgable, this characteristic seems to be a requirement for employment with the company

Pamirs Fann Mountains Trek

The Pamirs Fann Mountains are part of the great mountain ranges that run along the southern edges of the Central Asian republics. They are a rugged and remote wilderness of jagged ridges, alpine lakes and snow capped peaks that stretch and fold towards the Hindu Kush and the Karakorum. We combine a trek in these impressive mountains with time in the fabled Silk Road cities of Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara. From Tashkent we travel to Samarkand before crossing the Tajikistan border to the foot of the Pamir Mountains. In the company of our guides and mule handlers we enter deep valleys with crystal clear lakes and flowering alpine meadows where we may see the summer camps of the Tajiki shepherds. Crossing a string of passes linking isolated valleys including Alauddin Pass (3530m), we are rewarded with views of the ranges that stretch far into Central Asia and the south. Completing our trek we return to Samarkand to marvel at the intricate mosques and palaces of the great Ottoman rule under Timur. We complete our trilogy of the silk route cities by visiting the 2500 year old Bukhara where we again appreciate the rich cultural history of Central Asia.

traveller reviews

What a wonderful trip!! The trek was amazing I didn't expect such beautiful sights. The cultural part in Uzbekistan was fantastic due to a wonderful guide we had in Dhilshod who went out of his way to be helpful and had a great personality.
