Pedalling through the Flemish countryside and the Netherlands with an experienced and informed leader has to be the best way to experience these countries, and appreciate the engineering marvel of water management through canals. The pastoral beauty was enhanced by the sweet smell of lilacs, hay, cows, sheep, and music of the songbirds. The rural experiences were interspersed with medieval cities where we had opportunity to participate in interesting walking tours of the old cities. This trip was an opportunity for meditative physical activity. The best of both!
