Kilimanjaro Shira Route

Just got back from Mt. Kilimanjaro with my son (we both made it to the peak) and the experience exceeded my expectations in every regard. It was better that I had hoped for and I want to thank you very much for all the assistance, hand holding, and help before the trip. I had never done anything like this, but I can't wait to try it again.

Tanzania on Foot

On this exceptional itinerary we enjoy a combination of vehicle safaris in Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater and trekking ascents of Mount Meru (4566m) and Mt Kilimanjaro (5895m). We spend time on the vast Serengeti savannah where herds of plains animals, including migratory wildebeest, can be seen. In the Ngorongoro Crater prepare for unsurpassed game viewing as many species of East African wildlife, including rhinoceros and large prides of lion, inhabit it. Our trek guides lead us on an ascent of Mt Meru - an ideal way to acclimatise for Kilimanjaro. The steep ridgeline ascent has spectacular views and the slopes of Mt Meru are home to a large wildlife population including elephants and mountain reedbuck. Fit and acclimatised, and in the company of our experienced guides and crew, we then trek the relatively remote Rongai Route on Kilimanjaro. We are aiming for spectacular sunrise views from the summit of Africa. This fabulous walking itinerary offers the opportunity to climb two of the best extinct volcanoes created by the East African Rift.
