Everest High Passes

...we shouldn't finish without mentioning admiration for the endlessly busy Mr Lama. He like all World Expeditions staff we met, was very charming and knowledgable, this characteristic seems to be a requirement for employment with the company

Solu Khumbu Everest Trek

From Kathmandu we take a flight into the Solu region to Phaplu, where we spend time in the picturesque Junbesi Valley offering a rare insight into the day to day village life of this predominantly Sherpa region. During our time here we make a short hike to visit the impressive Thubten Chholing Monastery with its huge central gompa and over 400 monks. Our trek takes us through villages and fields to the gateway of the Everest Region, Lukla and the Sherpa capital of Namche. Here we wander the bazaar before continuing on to the monastery village of Thyangboche for impressive views of the Everest massif. Looping around we return via the picturesque villages of Khunde and Khumjung and Sir Edmund Hillary's 'Schoolhouse in the Clouds'' before retracing our steps from Namche to Lukla and the end of a memorable journey in Nepal.
