Mount Cook Aoraki Ascent

As for the Mt Cook trip, it was absolutely brilliant. Thoroughly enjoyed it and the 10 day course taught me a lot! I'm already thinking of what I would like to climb next.... Possibly something in the Himalayas. Just need to keep up the fitness (and save up a lot of money!!).

Volcanoes and Rainforest Trekking

Discover the North Island's harder-to-get-to wilderness regions to encounter mature Jurassic rainforest, active volcanic areas and rich Maori history. The tour begins with a 3-day walk in the 'dinosaur forests' of Whirinaki Forest Park before transferring to the volcanic crater of Lake Tarawera, steeped in Maori history. Here you'll visit the Maori village of Te Wairoa, which was buried by the eruption of nearby Mount Tarawera in 1886, to encounter the excavated ruins and recovered relics as well as have the option to kayak across the lake to soak in thermal streams. During the tour you'll also experience a 'hangi', the traditional Maori meal cooked underground, visit Lake Taupo, New Zealand's largest lake, and embark on a trek through the moon valley of Tongariro where you can climb to the summit of an active volcano. At Waitomo, explore its famous caves, glow-worms and limestone formations before enjoying a trek into Egmont National Park to climb Fanthams Peak at dawn for stunning views of Mt Egmont (also known as Mt Taranaki).
