The hotels were great, the guides were very professional, and the guide we had on the trek was so experienced and attentive to all our abilities and needs. The food, and general standard of hygiene on the trek was outstanding.

Two great memories that I have are, firstly, trekking through the Andes with the guide in front playing his pipes as we walked, and making our offerings of coca leaves to the Inca gods at the Sun Gate....

Austrian Lakes Walk

The UNESCO World Heritage listed Salzkammergut alpine region of Austria encompasses 76 crystal clear lakes, the Dachstein Glacier, lush summer meadows and impressive rock faces up to 3000 vertical metres high. During this inspiring walk, there is ample time to appreciate the natural beauty of the region and the alpine villages of wooden chalets decorated with colourful window boxes while at night you will enjoy the warm hospitality of your hosts. Staying in pensions and small hotels, you can relax and enjoy the satisfying cuisine typical of the region. There will be opportunities to sight fauna including ibex, chamois and marmot along with numerous butterfly species which are endemic to these high alpine meadows.

DAY 1 Join Bad Ischl, welcome briefing
DAY 2 Walk to Russbach, Schwarzensee, Eisenau and on to Unterach on Attersee Lake (7hrs)
DAY 3 Walk between Attersee and Mondsee and on to Abersee (7hrs)
DAY 4 Boat trip on Lake Wolfgangsee and walk to Strobl (3hrs) or circular walk in the Postalm Alpine pasture (8hrs)
DAY 5 Walk Postalm hiking trail to Bad Goisern (8hrs)
DAY 6 Walk to Hallstatt (3hrs)
DAY 7 Walk to Bad Aussee (5hrs)
DAY 8 Walk to Bad Ischl (7hrs), trip concludes
