Kilimanjaro Shira Route

Just got back from Mt. Kilimanjaro with my son (we both made it to the peak) and the experience exceeded my expectations in every regard. It was better that I had hoped for and I want to thank you very much for all the assistance, hand holding, and help before the trip. I had never done anything like this, but I can't wait to try it again.

Kilimanjaro, Wildlife and Zanzibar

Before ascending the highest peak in Africa, we will glimpse the highlights of Tanzanian wildlife on a superb safari. The world famous Ngorongoro Crater is considered the “Garden of Eden” in terms of game viewing, with other highlights including huge herds of elephants in Tarangire and abundant birdlife at Lake Manyara. You will then be excited and ready for the challenge ahead. The sight of the permanent snow-capped peak of Mt Kilimanjaro provides a constant source of inspiration. While the ascent does not require any technical climbing, the trails are demanding and a sound level of fitness and an ability to acclimatise are essential pre-requisites before attempting the summit. The Rongai Route begins in attractive farmland and delightful forest, with the opportunity for viewing black and white colobus monkeys, and passes through several different climate zones. This route retains a sense of unspoilt wilderness and offers a different perspective on Kilimanjaro by approaching it from the north east. From the alluring summit of Uhuru Peak (5895m) we will have amazing 360° views of the surrounding plains. This all-encompassing itinerary concludes with a trip to the white sand beaches of Zanzibar - an ideal way to relax and celebrate the end of an unforgettable adventure.

What a fantastic trip. Everything went like clockwork, all the staff were tremendous, plenty of good food to fuel us and the perfect combination - safari, climb and then recovery on a warm beach. Highly
