Everest High Passes

...we shouldn't finish without mentioning admiration for the endlessly busy Mr Lama. He like all World Expeditions staff we met, was very charming and knowledgable, this characteristic seems to be a requirement for employment with the company

Mardi Himal Exploratory with Tim Macartney-Snape

While the Annapurna region is well known for its crowded lodges and busy trails, very few trekkers have explored the more remote trails and sublime alpine ridges that are found amidst the great Annapurna massif. Fortunately, this type of adventurous trekking is still possible. In 2017 Tim Macartney-Snape will take his love of exploring less trodden ground to the remote trails south of Annapurna 3 and 4 and then towards Mardi Himal (5587m/18,330ft), a prominent peak lying directly under the inspiring summit of Machapuchare and directly opposite the massive south face of Annapurna 1. After a mountain flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara, we will take jeeps to the trailhead near Siklis, a small Himalayan village with awesome views of Lamjung and Annapurna 2. From Siklis, be prepared for an exploratory and rugged adventure as we first make our way north through jungle to around 4000m, before traversing west through the Seti Khola, one of the major drainage basins flowing from the glaciers of the Annapurna massif. Feeling far from civilisation, we will enjoy pristine trails and exceptional wilderness campsites. Our adventure culminates with a climb of Mardi Himal - a superb introduction to climbing in the Himalaya.
