Firstly may I just say I absolutely loved the Mont Blanc trip, and when talking to the other climbers who had gone with other agencies, our trip had the best mix of mountain huts, walks and training, so thank you, it really was superb.

Haute Pyrenees Hike and Bike

The Pyrenees mountain range follows the border between Spain and France from the Atlantic tothe Mediterranean sprinkled with high peaks over 3000m and is home to some of the most remoteand interesting hiking terrain in Europe. The Col du Tourmalet is one of the most famous climbs on the Tour de France. It is also the highest road in the central Pyrenees (2,115m). On the first half of the trip you will discover the numerous trails through the Pyrenees National Park by foot, including to the famous Cirque de Gavarnie, Pont d’Espagne and the Path of Waterfalls. Next you swap hiking boots for a road bike to cycle through the Azun Valley , take 2 days in the ascent of the mythical Col du Tourmalet and pass through authentic small mountain villages.

Brief Itinerary

DAY 1 Arrive Lourdes, transfer to Cauterets-Pont d'Espagne
DAY 2 Ascend mountain trails to refuge in the Pyrenees National Park (5hrs)
DAY 3 Follow the GR10 to Gavarnie (5hrs)
DAY 4 Hike the Cirque de Gavarnie, transfer to Val d'Azun (4.5 or 6hrs)
DAY 5 Walk or cycle to explore the valley (3.5-6hrs or 25-78kms)
DAY 6 En route to the Col du Tourmalet, overnight Gripp (51km)
DAY 7 Ascend Col du Tourmalet and descend to Arras (53km)
DAY 8 Transfer to Lourdes, trip concludes
