Overland Track

Our guides Victor & Matt made the trip – we were novice long distance walkers & inexperienced campers but their patience and understanding was greatly appreciated and has encouraged us to look forward to future treks. Thanks so much for making our 29th Wedding Anniversary so memorable.

We have relived our Tassie walk many times over – in fact each time we‘re back in the bush memories flood back from our trip Thanks once again to the staff for a fabulous adventure.

Sailing Around Spitsbergen

The island of Spitsbergen is a vast wilderness, which is home to an incredible array of flora and fauna located just some 900kms south of the North Pole. The exhilaration of sighting Polar Bear as they roam the ice in search of food, watching the playful activities of Grey Seals or observing a group of walrus are just some of the highlights found on this voyage. Our small group of 20 passengers will sail aboard the basic but comfortable schooner, the Noorderlicht. Manned by a skilled crew and expert naturalist/expedition leader, this voyage involves some participation with the handling of sails, taking the helm or being on watch during the night. These voyages are dependent on the weather and the sea conditions, therefore the itinerary is only an outline.

Brief Itinerary

DAY 1 Embark Longyearbyen
DAY 2 Alkhornet
DAY 3 Smeerenburg
DAYS 4/15 Cruising Spitsbergen
DAY 16 Disembark Longyearbyen where trip concludes. Programs may vary depending on local ice and weather conditions and in order to take advantage of opportunities to see wildlife. Flexibility is paramount on expeditions.

traveller reviews

Most memorable parts of the trip were: seeing the Northern Lights on the first and second nights on board the ship, seeing a bear on the first morning, and walking onto a glacier.
