Antarctic Explorer

Just a belated thank you to World Expeditions for the wonderful trip to the Antarctic my sister and I joined last December. From the first day, it was agreed that 1 day on a plane and 2 1/2 days on a ship was a small price to pay to have the chance to enjoy such an amazing experience. The ship was comfortable and crewed by an excellent staff; the size of the vessel was perfect to allow maximum opportunity for the four dozen or so passengers to enjoy the experience (contrasted to many of the other vessels we saw in port in Ushuaia).
Furthermore, the guides provided were professional, knowledgeable and friendly, adding to the great atmosphere of the journey. Our fellow travellers were an outgoing and welcoming bunch too, which made for a wonderful time. I wholeheartedly commend World Expeditions to anyone as a first rate provider of adventure travel - I can't wait for my next opportunity to try another experience (perhaps Kenya at a quiet moment). My sincere thanks to the team.

Jordan Highlights

Discover all the must see places on this tantalising journey including breathtaking archaeological treasures, Roman ruins, grand mosques and Crusader fortresses. First on the agenda are the delightful Desert Castles and the second century Roman ampitheatre in Amman. At Um Qais we gain a sense of what Moses saw with views of the Jordan Valley, Golan Heights and the Sea of Galilee. The rose-red city of Petra is revealed through a narrow gorge, where you'll be awe struck by the structures that were carved into the soaring sandstone walls by the Nabataean civilization in the third century B.C. A short walk in the Dana Nature Reserve is proceeded by our foray into the Wadi Rum, a spectacular desert landscape and the backdrop for our camel, jeep and foot explorations. In the south we relax on the beautiful shores of Aqaba at the Red Sea. Our final days include visits to the Baptism site of John the Baptist with some time to relax on the Dead Sea, Madaba known as the 'City of Mosaics' and Mount Nebo with its prized monastery.

traveller reviews

There were so many trip highlights, but probably Petra would have to be a contender, especially having two whole days there. Travel knowing that the Jordanians are delighted to welcome you to their country and extremely hospitable. Pack sturdy walking shoes and hiking sandals. Abdullah is wonderful - he is knowledgeable, friendly and a delightful guide.
