King’s Bruton has enjoyed an excellent partnership with World Expeditions for many years. As part of our popular Gap Year Programme we rely exclusively on WE for the management of our fund raising expeditions each year. We have experienced nothing but professionalism, dependability and commitment to our ethos. At the locations of our expeditions we have found the local ground agents to be highly reliable and well respected in their communities. World Expeditions have delivered first rate experiences for our teams in North Africa and we look forward to many more years of effective partnership.

These include mountaineering treks to some of the world’s most spectacular mountain ranges in the company of some of the world’s most experienced mountain guides. We explore remote peaks and passes in Nepal, India, the Tian Shan and Pamirs of Central Asia and Western China, the Cordillera Real in Bolivia, Aconcagua – the highest mountain in the southern hemisphere, Ojos del Salado – the highest volcano in the world, Mt Elbrus – the highest mountain in Europe, Mont Blanc – the highest in the European Alps and Mt Cook in New Zealand.
Our mountaineering expeditions involve trekking on remote trails in variable conditions for up to eight to twelve hours a day. They include travel on snow and ice requiring the use of mountaineering boots, crampons and ice axe. Expect to carry up to 12-15kgs in your rucksack on various stages of the expedition. You will spend a reasonable portion of the trip at altitude (with some days in excess of 5500-7500m) and normally have several camps on glaciers. You will need an excellent level of fitness and be completely comfortable in adverse weather conditions in remote areas. Suggested preparation for mountaineering expeditions: you will need to be very fit and healthy. A minimum of 1 hour of aerobic exercise per session, four to five times a week is essential. Running and cycling in hilly areas is particularly beneficial as are multi day walks on the weekends. This is the ideal time to try out your boots and other gear to make sure you are prepared and ready for your expedition. If you are considering Intermediate or advanced level trips, you will need to discuss your preparation leading up to the trip with our expert staff.
In addition it is essential that you also read and understand our grading system and also refer to the specific trip notes for more detailed information.
